Micarta® / High Pressure Laminates G10, LE, X, CE Micarta's® dielectric characteristic makes it a superb insulator. It's uses in this area range from giant transformers, circuit breakers and other power transmission and generating hardware to circuit panels, switch and socket bases, washers, spacers, x-ray machines and other medical imaging equipment where long-term electrical insulation is crucial.
Micarta® line of high pressure laminates is one of the strongest materials known to the industry. Since it is so tough, Micarta® is given many tasks that would ordinarily be reserved for metals. The machine tool industry uses it to make long lasting gears, pinions, bushings & bearings that are quieter and more economical than metal parts.
The grades of Micarta® available are:
Paper with phenolic grades (NEMA X)
Provides low cost electrical and mechanical properties. This material is widely used for switchboards, panel boards, insulating washers and intricate punched parts.
